Features of Recycled Pluswood

PLUSWOOD recycled wood, featuring a styrene-based plastic matrix such as ABS, offers an extensive product lineup for various exterior applications, including wood decking, louvers, pergolas, fences, and benches. In 2010, we launched the industry’s first self-extinguishing wood decking and louver products, significantly enhancing fire safety. Our dedication to recycling and product quality has earned rigorous public recognition over the years. In 2011, our manufacturing facilities became JIS A5741 certified for “Wood-Plastic Recycled Composites.” This was followed by a Good Design Award in 2016 for our sustainable framework utilizing thinned wood from Fukui Prefecture, and the successful supply of our materials to Olympic-related facilities in 2020.

Natural Wood Look & Feel (Decking & Louvers)

PLUSWOOD contains a high percentage of wood powder, giving it a low-gloss, matte finish that feels warm and natural to the touch.

Safe & Reliable Material (Decking & Louvers)

Even when used outdoors, the material will not split, crack, or splinter like natural wood, making it safe and gentle for everyone. It is also slip-resistant and does not become slimy when wet, ensuring peace of mind even on rainy days.

Fade-Resistant (Decking & Louvers)

PLUSWOOD experiences significantly less color fading over time compared to natural timber, preserving its newly installed beauty for years to come.

Colors that Match Any Architecture (Decking & Louvers)

We offer a diverse range of color variations designed to blend seamlessly with various architectural styles.

Effortless Maintenance (Decking & Louvers)

Highly resistant to rot and decay, PLUSWOOD eliminates the need for the periodic painting or staining required by traditional wood.

Solid & Sturdy Underfoot (Decking)

The high wood powder content provides exceptional strength, delivering a solid, sturdy, and premium feel when walked upon.

Engineered for Safety (Decking)

Designed with safety in mind, the deck surface features a fastener-free finish with no exposed screws. Additionally, the Decking ND series is cleverly designed to prevent coins and other small objects from falling through the gaps between the boards.

High Rigidity (Louvers)

Leveraging the high-rigidity characteristics of styrene-based plastics, we offer a generous standard length of 4 meters. This structural strength allows for a maximum support span of up to 1,500 mm.
*The maximum support span varies depending on specific installation conditions.

Low Warpage (Louvers)

With high resistance to warping over time, these louvers can be securely fastened solely from the rear side. This ensures that no mounting brackets or hardware are visible from the front, achieving a clean and stylish exterior appearance.

Superior Weather Resistance (Decking & Louvers)

By utilizing a highly weather-resistant resin, the material experiences minimal discoloration and maintains excellent long-term structural strength. Unlike natural wood, it will not splinter, check, or crack. Discoloration is significantly lower compared to traditional timber, contributing to a substantial reduction in lifetime maintenance costs.

Safe, Self-Extinguishing Material

“Self-extinguishing” refers to the material’s ability to naturally extinguish its own flame once the ignition source is removed. This performance is evaluated in accordance with the flammability testing methods outlined in JIS K 6911 (“Testing methods for thermosetting plastics – 5.2 Flammability Method A”).
By installing self-extinguishing louvers and decking in public zones, commercial facilities, schools, and high-rise buildings, fire safety is significantly enhanced.
Furthermore, the additives used to impart this self-extinguishing property are highly eco-friendly; we carefully select materials that fully comply with the EU’s RoHS Directive*.
*RoHS Directive: A directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. It restricts the following 10 substances:
“Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent chromium, Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).”

Reliable Quality with JIS Certification

Pluswood has obtained certification under JIS A 5741: Wood-Plastic Recycled Composite Materials.
JIS A 5741 specifies the quality standards for composite materials primarily made from wood powder derived from waste wood and recycled plastics. This certification verifies not only product quality but also quality control systems and raw material traceability. It is granted to manufacturers of wood-plastic recycled composite materials that meet these requirements.

Certification No.: TC05 11 003
Certified Company: Fukuvi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.
Certification Standard: JIS A 5741 Wood-Plastic Recycled Composite Materials
Date of Certification: September 20, 2011
Certification Body: Japan Testing Center for Construction Materials (JTCCM)

Safe and Recyclable

A Material Designed for Living with People

As an eco-friendly new composite wood material, PLUSWOOD is highly recyclable. In addition to its excellent durability, it can be recycled and reused for the same applications.

A Highly Recyclable Material

In general, plastics tend to suffer significant performance degradation when different types of plastics are mixed together, making recycling difficult. Pluswood contains wood powder, which helps bind various types of plastics together, resulting in minimal performance loss during recycling.

Effective Use of Resources

Pluswood makes effective use of waste wood powder from thinned timber and sawmill offcuts, as well as recycled plastics.

Utilizing 100% Domestically Sourced Thinned Wood

We process thinned wood sourced from Fukui forests into wood flour, compound it in-house with recycled plastics, and maintain a fully integrated manufacturing process from raw materials to extrusion molding.
