Sound Insulation That Can Be Installed From The Interior
“Silent Drop” is a floor impact sound reduction material based on a new concept of controlling sound through special granules. By simply placing it in the ceiling plenum, it reduces heavyweight floor impact sound, which was previously considered difficult to mitigate.
Sound Reduction Mechanism
Heavyweight floor impact sounds, such as footsteps, travel as vibrations.
The vibration of the concrete slab is transmitted through the suspension bolts to the ceiling board, where it becomes audible sound.
By placing Silent Drop on the furring channels, the contents (through the vibrational friction of the granules) absorb the vibrations transmitted from the suspension bolts, suppressing the oscillation of the ceiling board and reducing noise.

Silent Drop Features
① Simply place on the ceiling
A simple construction method that only requires placement on the ceiling. It can be used not only for new construction, but also for remodeling and renovations. In condominiums, etc., installation can be performed from the floor below.
➁ 5 times the performance of double ceilings
Despite weighing +6.6kg/m², which is equivalent to a double ceiling (double-layered gypsum board), the sound insulation effect (heavyweight floor impact sound reduction) is approximately 5 times greater.
③ Approx. 8kg/m²
At approximately 8kg/m², it is much lighter than concrete slab topping (approx. 120kg/m²). Furthermore, since it is installed behind the double ceiling, it does not interfere with the fit-out of other building materials or equipment.
Comparison with Concrete Slab Topping
Compared to concrete slab topping, the structural load is only approx. an additional 8kg per 1m². It is chosen because it requires only about 1/15th of the load compared to concrete topping and can be implemented from the interior side.

Silent Drop was adopted in the ceiling plenum of all rooms as a soundproofing measure during a full renovation. Two years after adoption, we interviewed the owner about their experience after construction.

Use 1.5 – 2 units per m², adjusted for space layout and light placement.
※ It is not necessary to lay them out side-by-side without gaps, as the goal is to reduce vibrations transmitted through the furring channels.
